Last Sunday SUNDAY Sunday we invited family and a few friends out to the Ritchie Arena for a rough and tough monster truck birthday party. Apparently 3 is the year that kiddos start having an opinion on birthday party themes - and while monster trucks probably wouldn't have topped this mom's list, Harrison's mind was made up and I was happy to oblige. Anything to make that boy happy!
A monster truck cake felt a little overwhelming and beyond my abilities, so this year I turned to the amazing Omaha Cake Gallery to create something special for Harrison. They did SUCH a good job and he LOVED it!
The weather on the day of the party was perfect and the kiddos got to spend the afternoon outdoors enjoying it. There was plenty of splashing in our water table, running thru sprinklers and soaking up the sunshine. Summer birthdays are the best!
There might be just a tiny bit of sunscreen in his hair!
Eventually it was time to re-fuel with some cake and ice cream and to open presents. I'm sure you can tell by the pictures below, but the cake tasted even better than it looked.
A new "pack pack" for the win!
It was a prime day for kite flying so one of his gifts got put to use as the day came to a close. It was a first for both of the boys - and for me too!
"Whoa! My Dave kite looks like a jellyfish!"
Oh sweet boy - I hope that you had an amazing day. We had so much fun celebrating YOU and the 3 years of smiles that you have brought to our lives. So much love.
Wow!! Celebrating birthday of kid’s if truly exciting. The cake you had ordered for birthday is just amazing. I got great ideas of cake from your blog. Now I am going to order same designer cake for my lovely son birthday which we are going to celebrate at event venues Seattle. I am sure we will love the flavour too.
